A case study on the play therapy for a runaway boy in ¡¯neglect¡¯
Kim Jung-Ha

Abstract
The Korean society has paid increasing attention to child abuse and made the laws and the systems for child abuse. However, the proper recognition regarding the situation in which child abuse occurred, as well as regarding the consequences of child abuse on the child¡¯s growth is not satisfactory. Thus, This study shows the harmful affect of child abuse on the growth of the child¡¯s emotion and the result of play therapy. This study illustrates a case of a client- after the divorce of his parents, the child was grown up in the state of ¡¯neglect¡¯. Later, having some mental problems, he wasn¡¯t adapted to the school, ran away from home, and took to thieving. This case was committed to the Center for the Prevention Child Abuse and finally he was fully recovered. Until his conduct disorders were eliminated and the proper home environment for his growth was made, the client was put in the child therapeutic center in which he received six group therapies for early adaptation and seventeen play therapies. This study focuses on play therapy. After he was given play therapy, his mental trauma made by the abuse was cured. Consequently, he quitted delinquencies and recovered emotional stability, the client returned to his home with proper environment.
